Our Story
A Hole-in-the-Wall Worth Finding
Tucked into Lohmann St in Boerne, Compadres Hill Country Cocina is easy to drive past — and once you find it, you won't stop coming back. Walk in, grab a laminated menu at the register, get in line, and let the smell of smoked meat pull you the rest of the way. It's counter service done right: quick, friendly, and full of "welcome" smiles the second you're through the door.
We built our menu where Hill Country smokehouse tradition meets authentic Mexican cocina — think smoked pulled pork piled into tacos, stuffed into jefe-sized enchiladas, or spooned over rice and beans that taste homemade because they are. Beef and chicken fajitas come off the line tender and loaded with flavor, and our botana platters are built to feed the whole familia.
Regulars line up before we even open the doors, and we serve dozens of families in a single lunch hour without ever losing that neighborhood feel. Dine in at a table inside or outside on the grass — either way, come hungry.

What Boerne Is Saying
“Drove from San Antonio for my birthday lunch. It was well worth the drive. I had the Jefe Enchiladas — stuffed with a perfect amount of pulled pork. The rice and beans had the homemade taste. Definitely going back!”
— Angie B.
“As soon as you walk in, the staff are greeting you with smiles and a ‘welcome.’ The mouth watering smell of smoke from the smoked meat was typical of a BBQ restaurant... everything about this place was above expectations.”
— Charles F.
“We ordered the botana platter for 3–4 people. Beef and chicken fajitas were very tender and had a good flavor. They served at least 50–60 families within our hour of dining in. Muy alegres!”
— Fermin M.
“We tried the Whole Enchilada with a side of enchilada mac and cheese and the Annie bowl with fajitas. The beef was so tender and the raspberry chipotle sauce topped it off so well. A GREAT comfort meal.”
— Priscilla C.
“Got the beef and chicken fajitas and some other people in my party got different tacos and Menudo. Everything was excellent! Big portions! Get there before they open because the line starts early!”
— Kram V.
